00:00:04 – Introduction

Hi my name is Andy Gale. I’m a small business attorney. I would say probably one of the most common problems that I see in my practice is that the owners of micro businesses, small businesses, solopreneurs—they all tend to wait a little bit too long before getting good legal advice.

00:00:20 – The Problem with Googling Legal Advice

Typically what they’ll do is they’ll go to the internet and they’ll try to Google it. But the problem of course with Googling it is that you have such a wide variety of advice coming from such a wide variety of people. Some people may know what they’re talking about, other people don’t know what they’re talking about, and the small business owner—they can’t sort out the difference between the good advice and the bad advice.

00:00:48 – Free Consultations and Their Limits

Sometimes what they’ll do is they will call an attorney and hopefully get a very substantive answer to their problem in a free consultation. But the problem with that, of course, is that the lawyer who’s giving the free consultation is really hoping to sell the client on their services or upsell the client to a service. And so there’s a little bit of a conflict in terms of what the two parties are trying to accomplish.

00:01:12 – Hiring a Business Attorney by the Hour

The third alternative open to the small business owner is that they simply hire a business attorney and they go in and spend a couple of hours to try to pull apart the problem. Of course, with that is the unknown with what it’s going to cost to have an attorney really dig into your problem and kind of understand what’s happening. And it’s even worse if you want to build sort of a long-term relationship. I mean, most business owners can’t afford to be spending a thousand dollars, two thousand dollars talking to their lawyer about something that might not be the biggest problem in the world, but something that they really want to get a good substantive answer to.

00:01:46 – The Attorney on Call Program

So what we’ve done in our practice is we’ve come up with this program that we call Attorney on Call, and it’s essentially a subscription service. We charge our clients a flat fee. It’s three hundred dollars a month if you want to get into the micro program.

Basically, what it allows our clients to do is just call us up whenever they have a question and we can answer that question for them on the telephone. The better part of it is that as the client hangs with the program, we begin to do work with them, we get to know them and they get to know us. And a lot of times in a very short phone call we can give them some very good advice because we have the history of that relationship behind us.

00:02:25 – Flexibility and Other Programs

Now one of the things that most of our clients really like about the program is that there’s no contract—they can cancel anytime. And if they want to talk to us a lot, we’ve got other programs for them too. We’ve got an Attorney on Call program, we’ve got an Attorney on Call Enterprise program. We also have programs that allow them to have documents reviewed and a variety of other things that really kind of make a suite of legal services much more accessible to the solopreneur, micro business owner, small business owner.

00:02:57 – Closing Invitation

So if you have a problem, have a question, think that it would be helpful to talk to an attorney that’s got a lot of experience dealing with people like that, please feel free to give us a call. We’d be delighted to talk to you about our program, and maybe it’ll be a fit for you as well.
